It’s the holiday season and that means holiday drinks from your favorite coffee shops. Gingerbread lattes, peppermint mochas, and eggnog lattes sound so whimsical but these delicious concoctions pack a lot of unnecessary sugar and calories in them. National Yoga Month may have been in September but we still love doing it at SCSU Campus Rec. There are so many amazing benefits of yoga which is why we offer yoga classes as a part of our Group X program at St. Cloud State University. The benefits from yoga range from releasing tension to aiding in blood flow and decreasing the risks of a having a heart attack! Got a problem? Yoga can probably fix it! Here at SCSU Campus Rec, we are committed to being fit. We launched a program earlier this week called 21 Days of Fitness. This program encourages students to attend group fitness classes. Those who participate will receive a card and after each group fitness class they attend, their instructor will sign their card. Prizes are given out for attending 10 classes and all 21 classes. Attending a cycling class counts for 2 signatures. Completed cards will be entered to win a FREE Spring Semester Combo Pass. Completed card with 6 Cycle classes will be entered to win a bike worth $1000! Weekly prizes will also be given out. We’re hoping for a good turnout this year because at SCSU Campus Rec, we’re committed to be fit and to offer something for everyone.


Running with Your Furry Friend

If you have a dog, you probably know that they love to run. Dogs need just as much (if not more!) exercise than we do. Next time you go for a run, consider bringing your furry friend along. Unfortunately, there isn’t a dog breed that can perform in all conditions and the dog’s temperament plays just as big a factor as their breed but if you want to bring your dog along with you on your next run, check out this chart which lays out which type of dog is best for certain running types. Mixed breeds can be fine runners too, especially if they are medium sized, alert, and eager.
