SCSU Group Fitness Is Getting R.I.P.P.E.D

R.I.P.P.E.D- The One Stop Body Shop™ is the total body “plateau proof fitness formula” workout”, using resistance and cardio training. The workout combines Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics and Endurance, helping you maintain your physique in ways that are fun, safe, doable and extremely effective.

Senior Maddie Hoffman attends this class on a regular basis, “I love R.I.P.P.E.D., there is a lot of dancing incorporated into the workout and you are constantly moving throughout the entire thing,” said Hoffman.

What you will get out of R.I.P.P.E.D: The workout is choreographed with specific routines that are designed specifically for each acronym.

In this class, your workout with touch on the following:

Resistance: Biceps, Triceps and shoulders to increase muscular tone and definition. 
Intervals: Anaerobic exercises combining one-minute of high intensity workouts along with two minutes of recovery. 
Power: Quads, hamstrings, back and chest muscles, utilizing the biggest muscles in the body. 
Plyometrics: Improves performance by focusing on speed and ability. 
Endurance: Focuses on coordination, ability and mobility by using martial arts and cardio kickboxing.

Think this class sounds fun? Imagine how good you till feel after burning off 750-1,000 calories in one 50-minute session. For freshman Helen Stennes, R.I.P.P.E.D is enjoyable because you get to “Make it your own workout and get lost in the music. You get a good sweat.”

Instructor Emily Miller enjoys teaching the R.I.P.P.E.D class at SCSU because she loves that it’s “Composed of choreography that goes along with music to create a fun workout.”

Miller changes the choreography every four weeks to ensure participants are able to enjoy familiar moves for a few classes, but then completely change it up for something new and fresh once they get used to it.

“I like that R.I.P.P.E.D is fast-paced, but is not too hard on the body. Instructors Emily and Chris both make it a lot of fun,” said senior Kylie Lane.
